Online trade in used products and equipment/second-hand is booming. In Romania Today, potential buyers often feel vulnerable, however, due to the anonymity of the internet.

When used machinery and equipment changes hands, important sums of money are often involved, a process that cannot be treated with superficiality. The online platform HorecaExchange.com, connects only buyers sellers – the acquisition itself does not happen directly through the Internet. Interested parties may simply send a request to dealers by completing the contact field or call the seller directly by telephone.

Ideally, both sides will meet on the spot, so that the equipment can be viewed and preferably also tested. If this is not possible, either for location or time reasons, there are a few things that buyers can check in advance:

• Is the price right? If the sales price of the equipment is much below their value, this often means that something is not right.
• Does the company really exist? Does the seller have a website with information about the company and can be contacted via a telephone number?
• Always make sure that the purchase agreement provides that the equipment is fully operational.
